Music Teacher — Part-Time, After-School: Quick Facts
• Pay: $60 per class taught each week.
• Classes: 2–4 classes per week, each class is 1 hour, afternoons (Monday–Friday, approximately 3:15–4:15 PM)
• Start Date: September 2025 (hiring in August)
• Location: San Antonio & surrounding areas — Northside ISD, Northeast ISD, Comal ISD, New Braunfels ISD

About the Job
We are seeking passionate, dependable, and creative music teachers to join our after-school program team. This part-time position is ideal for anyone with a solid musical background and experience working with children who enjoys helping students discover and develop their love for music.
You’ll teach group music classes introducing students to one of the following: piano, guitar, and percussion. Classes are designed for beginners to introduce students to instruments. Classes are offered for beginner piano, guitar, and percussion (bucket drumming). Classes are taught in a 6 week session with a commitment from the teacher to teach the full session for however many classes they are assigned.
For example, a teacher will teach piano class at 3 different assigned schools each week for the session duration of 6 weeks. They will teach the same curriculum lesson at all 3 schools that week making preparation easy and manageable. They are paid per class taught weekly. If a teacher teaches 3 classes a week, they will be paid $180 that week for teaching. Teachers are paid $60 per class taught each week.
Responsibilities:
• Teach 1-hour group music classes to beginner-level students
• Lead 2–4 classes per week at assigned schools
• Deliver engaging lessons covering basic piano, guitar, or percussion concepts
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
• Travel to and from local school sites as assigned arriving 15 minutes before class time.
• What You Need
• General musical knowledge and ability to demonstrate basic piano, guitar, and percussion concepts
• Experience teaching, mentoring, or working with children in an educational or musical setting (private studio, school classroom, or church/worship setting)
• Comfortable managing a group classroom environment
• Must pass a background check ($37.00)
• Reliability and dependability are necessary as we have contracts with these schools that we have to keep. We ask that you make every effort to show up for work each week consistently prepared to teach and on time.
• Reliable transportation to travel between schools. Teachers will be teaching at several different assigned schools for the 6 week session showing up and bringing their equipment in a cart with them for each class.

• Used to Working with students ages 6-12 years old in a classroom setting.
• Local musicians, private music teachers, church musicians, stay at home moms that have a background in teaching children and love music, college students that need minimal required hours a week job options, current music teachers in public schools, music interns at public schools.

• Northeast ISD (NEISD)
• Comal ISD
• New Braunfels ISD
We’ll do our best to match you with schools near your home or preferred area. Final placement is approved by the teacher before accepting the job. You will be assigned to the same schools for the duration of the 6 week session. For instance, a teacher might teach piano class at Timberwood Park on Mondays, Wednesdays at Johnson Ranch, and Fridays at Rahe Bulverde Elementary. The same lesson will be taught all week at the three different school locations.
