Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Global Economic History

The Department of History at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Global Economic History. We seek a scholar with an excellent research record on any topic within an economic framework, including, but not limited to, political economy; the history of economic institutions and regulatory regimes; the history of economic thought; free and unfree labor; histories of consumption and material culture; the history of capitalism; or the integration of environmental, legal, and economic histories. We welcome all approaches, chronologies, and geographic areas of expertise, but have particular interest in candidates whose research engages regions outside the United States and who are capable of working with and teaching complex datasets and quantitative historical methods. All faculty in the History Department teach classes at all levels of the curriculum, from introductory lectures to majors’ seminars, participate in the A&S college core, and serve in an advisory capacity for honors students and undergraduate majors.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in History or a related field. Candidates should also have evidence of teaching experience. The Ph.D. must be in hand by August 1, 2027.
