About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Lead Sound Designer to spearhead audio development for upcoming interactive entertainment projects. This role is pivotal in shaping the sonic identity of our games, working within a fully remote, agile team environment. You will be responsible for defining and executing the sound strategy, ensuring an immersive and captivating auditory experience for players worldwide. The ideal candidate is a visionary who can inspire and guide a team, while also being hands-on in the creation of high-quality audio assets, contributing directly to the artistic vision of our titles.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, implementation, and integration of all in-game sound effects, ambient audio, and dynamic sound systems.
• Collaborate closely with game designers, narrative leads, and technical directors to conceptualize and realize the project’s audio vision.
• Mentor and guide junior sound designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Manage audio asset pipelines, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to technical specifications for cross-platform release.
• Oversee the audio budget and schedule, ensuring timely delivery of all sound-related milestones in a remote work setting.
• Develop and maintain high-quality audio documentation, including style guides and implementation notes.
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Sound Designer or Audio Director in the video game industry, with at least one shipped AAA title in a lead role.
• Proficiency in industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Reaper, or Cubase.
• Strong understanding of game audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) and implementation techniques.
• Experience with audio programming or scripting languages (e.g., C++, Python) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills suitable for distributed teams.
