ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (CONTINUING TRACK), SCHOOL OF MUSIC,
COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

POSITION: TRUMPET

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: AUGUST 16, 2026

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School of Music at the University of Delaware seeks a
distinguished trumpet performer and teacher to lead our applied
trumpet program. Full-time, Continuing Track faculty appointment,
at the Assistant Professor rank, will commence on August 16,
2026.

Continuing Track (CT) faculty are full-time, benefits-eligible
faculty members of the University of Delaware who are employed on
continuing renewable contracts. CT faculty with terminal degrees
hold professorial rank and have a path to promotion up to full
professor. All CT faculty are eligible for sabbaticals and have
opportunities to pursue research.

Duties include teaching applied trumpet with possible
assignments in related courses from the brass area (e.g. trumpet
pedagogy, chamber coaching, trumpet ensemble); maintain an active
national and international performing career; participate in
regional, national, and international recruiting; possible
collaborations with peers in faculty ensembles; collegial
participation in school activities. The final assignment of duties
will be based on the needs of the school and the expertise of the
candidate. Salary for this position will be commensurate with rank,
qualifications, and experience. Qualified candidates will have an
established record of excellence in college teaching and
professional performances. An earned doctorate in Trumpet
Performance or related field, or the equivalent in professional
experience is preferred.

THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC:

Our mission in the School of Music is to provide the best
educational opportunities for a music majors’ professional
development as performers, educators, and scholars. As a fully
accredited institutional member of the National Association of
Schools of Music, we seek to provide optimal resources for
significant musical growth through School of Music ensembles,
private study, and academic music courses available to the general
student and others of the University community. The School of Music
comprises 60 full- and part-time faculty and professionals and
enrolls approximately 350 undergraduate majors, minors and graduate
students. We offer Bachelor of Music degrees in Applied Music,
Music Education, and Theory and Composition; Bachelor of Arts with
a major in music and concentration in Music Management; and Master
of Music degrees in Chamber Music, Performance, Teaching and
Composition. We provide opportunities for cultural enrichment to
the University community and its constituencies, as well as
leadership and support to music educators and other professional
musicians in the region.

THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES:

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the largest college at
the University of Delaware, comprising 22 academic departments, 2
academic centers, and 35 interdisciplinary centers, programs, and
institutes across the arts, humanities, social sciences, and
natural sciences. CAS serves every student at the University
through foundational coursework, while also supporting over 7,300
undergraduate and 1,100 graduate students majoring in our
disciplines. In 2024-2025, CAS conferred more than 1,400 BA and AA

interdisciplinary engagement, connecting students and faculty with
local, national, and global communities through research, creative
activity, and public service.
