Senior Audio Engineer & Music Producer (Neo-Soul / R&B / Hip-Hop / Alternative)
Job Description
I’m an independent artist looking for a highly experienced audio engineer who can also produce. I’m looking for someone with real musical taste, strong instincts, and a deep understanding of quality sound.
My music lives in the world of neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, and alternative. I’m inspired by artists like Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, Daniel Caesar, Sault, Jungle, and similar sonic worlds. Analog warmth, musical depth, and intention matter to me.
Right now, I’m focused on finishing 4 songs, but I’m ultimately looking for someone I can build with long-term, song by song.
Current Project (Phase 1)
I currently have 4 songs that need to be completed. At this stage, the primary focus is vocal work and final polish.
Process for these 4 songs:
• I will record vocals at my home studio
• You will tune all vocals using Melodyne (clean, musical, transparent tuning)
• We may schedule Zoom sessions to collaborate live on harmonies, vocal choices, or creative decisions if helpful
• The instrumentals are already mixed, but you will fine-tune the mix to properly integrate the vocals
• Final step will be polishing the mix and mastering if needed so the songs are fully release-ready
The goal is professional, radio-ready records where the vocal is front and center, emotional, and clean without sounding over-processed.
Ongoing Collaboration (Phase 2)
Moving forward, we’ll continue working song-by-song using a similar process.
This phase will also include reworking older songs of mine using Suno:
• I will generate stems using Suno from my existing songs
• You will clean up and refine the Suno stems
• If stems are not clean or musical enough, you’ll recreate or enhance parts using real instruments or high-quality virtual instruments
• Blend any usable original stems with new material as needed
• Elevate the production beyond the AI output so it sounds intentional, human, and high-end
• Final vocal tuning, mixing, and mastering as needed per song
This is a creative role, not just technical. I’m looking for someone who enjoys shaping sound, rebuilding records when necessary, and collaborating to make each song better.
What I’m Looking For
• Senior-level audio engineer with strong musical taste
• Ability to both mix and produce
• Deep understanding of analog-style warmth and sound design
• Advanced Melodyne and vocal editing skills
• Strong vocal mixing where the voice is always the star
• Comfortable across neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, and alternative
• Skilled with creative vocal effects and sound identity
• Radio-ready mixing and mastering experience
• Familiarity with Logic Pro is strongly preferred (other DAWs are fine if you can navigate Logic sessions)
• Collaborative, communicative, and excited to build long-term
