We’re looking for a composer to write 3 original battle tracks for a historical real-time strategy game set in the early 19th century. Deadline 11th October.
Our current tracks work well in tempo and mood, but they sound “plastic” and unnatural. We want new tracks that keep the same mood and feel more refined, organic and human.
Deliverables: 3 battle tracks
Generic French/European style:
The same style with subtle Egyptian motifs
The same style with subtle Slavic (Russian) motifs
National instruments are welcome, used sparingly.
Key requirements:
65–80 BPM, 2–3 minutes, seamlessly loopable
48 kHz / 24-bit; stems delivered after approval
Core instruments: drums, strings, bass, woodwinds
Low-pitched drums with snare in the background, military rhythm
The mix sits mostly in the low and mid range, with restrained highs
Dark, focused mood with a sense of inevitability; the music supports gameplay and doesn’t distract from it
What we don’t want:
No choir, no horns, no fanfares
No cinematic big build-ups
No catchy or dominant melodies
No synths, no AI-generated music
Reference direction:
La Victoire est à Nous · Hohenfriedberger Marsch · Beethoven, Symphony No. 7 (II) · Shostakovich, Symphonies No. 7 (I) and No. 8 (III) · Ravel, Boléro · Arvo Pärt, Fratres
Process:
We start with a short sketch for Track 1 to agree on the direction, then move on to the full track and the two variations. [2] rounds of revisions per track are included. All music is work-for-hire, and full rights transfer to us upon payment.
