I am commissioning a paid pilot collection of original instrumental music for a monetized YouTube study-music channel. I am seeking a composer/producer who can create an elegant, warm and unobtrusive sound suitable for concentration.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
The listener should feel as though they are studying inside a luxurious fireplace library on a rainy night.
The music should feature:
• Intimate piano
• Soft cello
• Subtle strings
• Delicate ambient textures
• Approximately 55–75 BPM
• A warm, sophisticated and calming tone
• Smooth development without dramatic transitions
• No vocals
• No catchy, distracting or recognizable melodies
• No imitation of any named artist or existing composition
The music should remain interesting over time while sitting comfortably in the background.
PAID PILOT SCOPE
Please compose three original pieces totaling at least 10–12 minutes. Each piece should be approximately 3–4 minutes and capable of flowing naturally into the next.
If the pilot is successful, I intend to commission a larger 45–60-minute collection and potentially establish an ongoing relationship with the composer.
DELIVERABLES
• Three individual stereo masters in 24-bit/48 kHz WAV format
• One continuous WAV master containing the complete 10–12-minute collection
• Separate, synchronized WAV stems for piano, cello, strings, ambient textures and any additional instrument groups
• MIDI files for all applicable instrumental parts
• Tempo and key information for each composition
• Clean endings or seamless-loop versions when musically appropriate
• Up to two reasonable revision rounds
• A list of all virtual instruments, sample libraries and other third-party production tools used
• Written copyright assignment and originality certification upon final delivery
ORIGINALITY AND THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL
All compositions and performances must be created specifically for this project.
Original MIDI performances played through properly licensed virtual instruments are acceptable. However, the music must not contain:
• Prefabricated melodic or harmonic loops
• Recognizable third-party samples
• Uncleared recordings or copyrighted material
• Generative-AI music or AI-generated compositions
• Material imitating a named artist or existing song
• Content subject to third-party ownership, royalties or restrictive licensing
The freelancer must disclose any pre-existing or third-party material before using it. No such material may be included without my prior written approval.
RIGHTS AND OWNERSHIP
Upon full payment, the freelancer agrees to assign exclusively to me all worldwide right, title and interest in both:
1. The underlying musical compositions; and
2. The final master recordings and all delivered versions.
The assignment must be exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable, fully paid and royalty-free, for all media now known or later developed.
I must be free to monetize, reproduce, edit, loop, adapt, combine, distribute, publicly perform, sublicense and register the music without further approval or payment.
The freelancer may not:
• Reuse, resell, license or distribute the music
• Upload the music to streaming or stock-music services
• register it with YouTube Content ID, a distributor, publisher, performing-rights organization or rights-administration service
• Make copyright claims against my channels or authorized users
• Publish the music in a portfolio without my written permission
Please apply only if you personally have the authority to transfer all required composition and master-recording rights.
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Please include:
1. Two or three examples of original piano, neoclassical, ambient or study music that you personally composed.
2. A description of exactly what you did on each example.
3. Whether the cello and strings would be live or virtual.
4. The DAW and primary instrument libraries you would use.
5. Confirmation that you accept the copyright assignment, originality and Content ID requirements above.
6. Your proposed price and delivery schedule for the pilot.
Please begin your proposal with the words “Rainy Library” so I know you read the complete description.
