Providence United Methodist Church in Monrovia, MD, is a growing, dynamic church seeking a dedicated musician (pianist/organist) to serve as Director of Music, working a maximum of 10 hours per week, depending on the amount of practice needed. The role is remote throughout the week and can be performed at any time suitable for the candidate in consultation with the Pastor, and on-site for our hour-long Sunday Service (9:30am). This role is essential in creating a meaningful worship experience by planning and preparing music for scheduled worship services, special services, and events. Success in this position means leading music that enhances the spiritual life of the congregation and fosters an atmosphere of worship and praise. As part of our small church community, the Director of Music plays a key role in uniting the congregation through music, enriching services, supporting the church’s mission through worship, and helping us continue our trajectory of growth and modernization.
Responsibilities
• Plan and prepare music for worship services, special services, and events in close collaboration with the Pastor.
• Play piano/organ to support congregational singing and worship.
• Collaborate with church leadership to enhance the worship experience.
• Lead and coordinate music programs as needed.
Qualifications
• Proficiency in piano and/or organ.
• Familiarity with the United Methodist Hymnal (or willingness to learn).
• Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to enhancing worship through music.
