Our client, a burgeoning independent film studio located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma , is seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Lead Film Score Composer to craft original music for a slate of upcoming cinematic projects. This is a unique opportunity to leave your musical imprint on diverse genres, from gripping dramas and thrilling action films to heartwarming comedies and thought-provoking documentaries. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating versatility in orchestral, electronic, and hybrid scoring styles, with a keen understanding of how music enhances narrative and emotional impact. You will collaborate closely with directors and producers from pre-production through post-production, translating their vision into compelling musical themes and soundscapes. This role requires exceptional skill in music composition, arrangement, orchestration, and proficiency with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and virtual instruments. The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects concurrently, and meet tight deadlines is essential. While some in-person meetings and recording sessions may be required at our Oklahoma City, Oklahoma studio, a flexible hybrid work arrangement will be offered, allowing for remote composition and production. We are looking for an artist who can bring a fresh perspective and a deep passion for storytelling through music.
Responsibilities: Compose, arrange, and produce original musical scores for feature films and short films. Collaborate with directors and producers to understand the creative vision and musical requirements for each project. Develop musical themes, motifs, and soundscapes that align with the narrative and emotional arc of the film. Work within established budgets and timelines for music production. Utilize advanced knowledge of DAWs (e.g., Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase) and virtual instrument libraries. Oversee and conduct recording sessions with live musicians when necessary. Provide music editing and mixing services to ensure seamless integration with the film’s soundtrack. Adapt and revise musical compositions based on feedback from the creative team. Maintain a high level of artistic quality and technical proficiency throughout the scoring process. Stay current with music trends in film and media. Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively. Communicate project status and updates regularly to the production team. Explore innovative approaches to film scoring and sound design. Contribute to the overall artistic direction of the studio’s film projects. Build and maintain positive working relationships with directors, producers, and musicians. Qualifications: Demonstrable experience as a film composer, with a strong portfolio of scored projects. Exceptional compositional and arranging skills across various genres. Proficiency with professional DAWs and a wide array of virtual instruments and sample libraries. Solid understanding of music theory, harmony, and orchestration. Experience working with live musicians and conducting recording sessions. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work creatively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines. A degree in Music Composition, Film Scoring, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with sound design principles is a plus. Willingness to travel to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for essential meetings and recording sessions as required by the hybrid work arrangement.
