Our client is looking for a visionary Lead Sound Designer to spearhead the audio experience for their upcoming entertainment projects. This exciting hybrid role is based in Baltimore, Maryland , offering a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, creating, and implementing all sonic elements, from ambient soundscapes to critical character audio and impactful special effects. This involves working closely with directors, game designers, animators, and composers to translate creative visions into immersive auditory realities. You will manage a team of sound designers, providing artistic direction, technical guidance, and fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Responsibilities include planning and executing audio recording sessions, implementing sound assets into game engines or post-production pipelines, and ensuring the highest quality of audio output across all platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in audio post-production, sound effects design, foley, mixing, and mastering. Proficiency in industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Cubase, or Logic Pro, as well as audio middleware like Wwise or FMOD, is essential. You should have a keen ear for detail, a deep understanding of acoustics, and a passion for storytelling through sound. Experience with real-time audio engines and an understanding of interactive audio principles are highly valued. This role demands excellent leadership and communication skills, the ability to provide constructive feedback, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will play a crucial role in defining the sonic identity of our client’s productions, ensuring they are memorable and engaging for audiences worldwide. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of sound designers, providing creative and technical direction. Conceptualize, design, and implement all sound effects, dialogue, and music for entertainment projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (directors, game designers, etc.) to achieve project goals. Oversee audio recording sessions, ensuring high-quality capture. Integrate audio assets into game engines or post-production workflows. Manage audio budgets and timelines effectively. Troubleshoot and resolve audio-related technical issues. Stay current with emerging audio technologies and trends. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in sound design for gaming or film. Demonstrated experience leading sound design teams and projects. Expert proficiency in Pro Tools and other major DAWs. Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD) and game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity). Strong understanding of acoustics, signal processing, and audio mixing techniques. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
