Job Description

Position Summary:

AUIB is seeking a dynamic and experienced Adjunct Faculty in Computer Science to drive its mission of delivering high-quality, student-centered education and advancing research and innovation in computing technologies. In this pivotal role, the faculty members will teach core and advanced computer science courses, contribute to curriculum development, and foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment. Key Responsibilities:

1. Teach basic computer science courses to undergraduate students assigned each semester.

2. Attend departmental meetings as required to stay informed about departmental policies and developments.

3. Assist with the development and updating of course materials and curricula in collaboration with full-time faculty.

4. Understand and comply with the university’s teaching guidelines, regulations, and policies.

5. Uphold professional and ethical standards in all interactions with students, faculty, and staff, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Excellence in Teaching: Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and inspire undergraduate students in computer science courses.
• Student-Centered Approach: Commitment to mentoring and supporting students’ academic and professional growth.
• Curriculum Development: Experience in designing and updating computer science courses to reflect current trends and technologies.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of programming, algorithms, and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence or cybersecurity.
• Professionalism and Collaboration: Ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, and students while maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
Education and Experience:

Required Education: Master’s in computer science or higher from a reputable college/ university.
• Years of Relevant Experience: Two or more years
• Specific Skills or Expertise: Familiarity with the American higher education system, and strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Additional Certifications: not required
• Personal Attributes: Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning; values diversity, collaboration, and innovation; and contributes positively to a student-centered academic environment.
