Our client, a prestigious film production company, is seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Senior Film Score Composer to craft original music for upcoming cinematic projects. This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to blend creative artistry with technical proficiency, working from your own studio with periodic on-site collaboration sessions in Columbus, Ohio, US . You will be responsible for conceptualizing, composing, arranging, and producing compelling musical scores that enhance the emotional impact and narrative depth of our films. This position requires a masterful understanding of musical composition, orchestration, and film scoring techniques, along with the ability to work closely with directors and music supervisors to realize their vision.
Key responsibilities include:
Composing original musical scores for feature films, documentaries, and short films. Collaborating closely with directors and producers to understand the creative vision and musical requirements for each project. Creating demo recordings and sketches for review and approval throughout the scoring process. Arranging and orchestrating music for various ensembles, from solo instruments to full orchestras. Producing high-quality recordings, managing studio sessions, and overseeing mixing and mastering. Ensuring musical scores align with the pacing, tone, and emotional arc of the films. Working efficiently within project deadlines and budget constraints. Staying current with advancements in music technology, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and virtual instruments. Maintaining strong professional relationships within the film and music industry. Providing music for promotional materials and trailers as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of successful film scoring projects. A degree in Music Composition, Film Scoring, or a related field is highly preferred. A minimum of 6 years of professional experience as a film composer, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality scores for commercial releases, is required. Mastery of major DAWs (e.g., Cubase, Logic Pro, Pro Tools) and extensive experience with sample libraries and orchestration software are essential. Exceptional compositional skills, a deep understanding of music theory, and a keen ear for detail are paramount. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for effective collaboration.
