The Music Department of California State University San Marcos
(CSUSM) invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position
at the rank of Assistant Professor in Music Industry/Audio
Production. We are seeking a dynamic educator with a vision to
expand our current Music Technology minor into a major in Music
Industry and Audio Production while also bringing local and
national visibility to the CSUSM Music Department.
Minimum Qualifications
• Terminal degree – OR – Master’s degree from an accredited
institution
• Documented experience in the Music Industry
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses
• Ability to teach and develop music courses based on curricular
needs
• Ability to teach our student populations and apply an equity
lens to this position including social justice and/or
anti-racism
Preferred Qualifications
• Doctoral degree in Music (ABD considered, conferral must be
received by hire date)
• Extensive industry experience at the regional, national, and
international levels
• Classroom, recording studio, and, internship experience at the
university level
• Ability to generate excitement and attract students to the
program
• Experience in developing a music industry program
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate
with departmental colleagues and contribute to our campus community
are essential.
• Additionally, applicants who can demonstrate intercultural
competence with a variety of groups in teaching, research, and
service are strongly preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,438 – $7,667 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221- $13,224 per month
